Not everyone wants the stress and hassle of organising a big wedding. A registry wedding can be a quick and simple way to get married, and it involves very little organisation.
The New Zealand Government has set out the following rules that you need to adhere to:
- The venue must be close to my home, so I use a local park - Bellevue Reserve, 160 Dominion Rd, Mt Eden
- The ceremony must take place on a weekday, 10am-4:30pm. It can't be held on weekends or public holidays
- You are limited to inviting 7 guests, excluding you and your partner
- The whole ceremony, including signing of the paperwork, is about 15 minutes long
- We must stick to the approved script, you cannot say your own vows to each other, or include any other content
- Professional photographers/videographers aren't allowed; only guests with their phones are allowed take photos
- Music and decorations are not permitted
If you want to get married in the quickest and simplest way possible, it only costs $90.
